Why Pre-Plan?
Planning a Catholic funeral in advance allows your wishes to be honored, eases the burden on loved ones, and ensures the funeral reflects your faith journey. The Church teaches that Christian burial is a corporal work of mercy and a profound expression of hope in the Resurrection.
Funeral Rites
Vigil (Wake Service)
- Scripture readings, Rosary, personal reflections, or sharing of memories
- Held at the funeral home, parish, or family home
- Lead by Priest or Deacon
Funeral Mass (or Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass)
- Celebrated in the parish church
- Includes Eucharist (If Mass), homily, and prayers for the deceased
- Family may participate in readings, presenting gifts, or offering eulogies
- Funeral Mass Lead by Priest and Assisted with Deacon
- Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass lead by Deacon
Committal (Burial or Interment)
- Final commendation at cemetery, mausoleum, or cremation niche
- Prayers and blessing at the place of rest
- Lead by Priest or Deacon
